The sound on this beauty is amazing great highs and low end with good sustain. The guitar is slightly asymmetrical on the top, as the hole is off center- I always found that to be a fascinating and unique quality of this handmade instrument. The heads on the guitar were replaced with Stewart-Mac vintage slot head tuners, but I have the originals which I will include. more ebony- and a wonderful slim curved( not V) mahogany neck. The action on this guitar is very low and is incredibly easy to play. Simple but elegant binding and pearl dots. Beautifully aged spruce top and mahogany sides. There is some very minor surface checking to back(very hard to see) but does not go through the wood. Cracks, or stabilization issues in the top, back, or sides. Hauver did an incredible job on the restoration and added carbon fiber rods to the neck for reinforcement. These harps were popular with Suzuki teachers and others that taught young children and did not rely on extensive use of levers right away. The tone with the levers engaged is not great The levers can be removed from the harp, placed on a block, and hit with a hammer to tighten them. The handle is held to the lever with a rivet that can become loose and flop down. The levers have a sharp edge that can shave the string as the lever is flipped up.
The sound is not particularly good and the levers have earned a bad reputation over the years. Every time a major change was made to the instruments the number was changed. This model was conceived as a training instrument for pedal harp students. I have several of these harps from the 1960s priced at $1200 each.
